Why LeanOn
A Mom Story
Becoming a mother was the most beautiful yet the hardest transition of my life.
Motherhood is like experiencing life all over again, but this time, without your parents or teachers to guide you.
You’re left to figure things out on your own.
The joy, the exhaustion, the guilt, the responsibility, the fear, the helplessness...
All wrapped in an unconditional love you never knew your heart could hold.
And yet, even when surrounded by the people you love, your partner, family, and friends...you can feel incredibly lonely.
Lonely when no one seems to understand what you feel.
Lonely in the middle of the night.
Lonely when you miss gatherings because you need to catch up on sleep.
Lonely when you secretly Google a tiny rash feeling silly asking someone about it.
You know what makes it easier?
Finding someone who is going through the exact same thing, at the exact same time.
Someone who truly understands, without judgment.
A year after having my firstborn, I found those people. And they saved me.
We were all first-time moms, new to Dubai, with babies around one year old.
We lived in the same neighborhood, which made it easy to meet up.
Today, these three women are my family in every way that matters.
We live next to each other, travel together, celebrate together...
Our kids are best friends.
We are each other’s support system...the emergency babysitter, the late-night venting partner, the shoulder to cry on.
And to think… it all started because one mom, “P,” had the courage to say, Come join us!
But what if you don’t get lucky enough to find them by chance?
What if you don’t have a “P” to call you in?
That’s why I’m building LeanOn.
I don’t want you to wait for luck. I want you to find your village.
This app is designed to connectmoms in the UAE with other moms in their neighborhood, based on phases of motherhood.
It starts with a message,
That message turns into endless conversations.
The conversations lead to coffee, coffee to dinner, dinner to lifelong friendships
Before you know it, you’ll have a circle of women who get it.
With who you can laugh, cry, vent, and share...without fear of judgment.
Where you support each other through the highs and lows of motherhood.
Because no mother should walk alone.
Because Moms LeanOn Moms.
